Here we are at the end of October. Normally, I am super busy at this time of year making pottery to take to a list of holiday markets over the next two months. This year, I am spending my days shoveling dirt and moving rocks… What gives?
Well, the fact is that we’ve moved from our valley home in Cashmere into the “big” city of Wenatchee. Here, I can run errands on my bicycle, take our old dog for strolls through the neighborhoods, and enjoy easy date nights with my husband. However, I have no studio to work in!

Our house is 100 years old and there is a similarly aged detached garage with a mysterious second floor (the stairs have been cut off halfway up!). It is upon this building that my hopes are pinned.

Cement floor? Check. Walls and roof in place? Check. Electricity, insulation, heat, windows, functional door…? Not so much. So there’s a bit of work to do! Hence the shoveling. So if you wonder what I am up to, you will find me digging a trench from the house for electrical conduit, pulling wet dirt and rocks away from the rotting garage walls (I said it had walls, not that they were in great shape) or simply being buried in leaves from one of our 3 gigantic trees.
I am happy to say that I do have enough stock saved up for two holiday Bazaars this year. Look for me November 21st at the Eagles Hall in Cle Elum, and December 5th at Wenatchee High School.
Happy Fall everyone and I hope to have great progress to share on the future home of Armbrust Pottery in the near future!
